hello!

Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, from experimenting with black-and-white film during day trips to Sydney in high school, to capturing the candid family moments that mean so much today. My journey—from growing up in the Blue Mountains of Australia to living on the islands of Fiji, then the picturesque state of Connecticut in the US, to now settling on the beautiful Central Coast of NSW—has profoundly shaped how I see and document the world.

Each session I photograph tells a unique and personal story, whether it’s the tippy-toe reaches of little ones, the joyful chaos of family life, or the passion behind a small business. I’m grateful for the opportunity to capture the unscripted, beautiful moments that make life so special.

As I continue this journey, I’m thrilled to share my passion with you and help document your story in the most natural, heartfelt way possible.

Early Passion for Photography

My love for photography started back in high school when I insisted on buying black-and-white film rolls for my camera instead of colour. I’d take day trips into Sydney from my home in the Blue Mountains, experimenting with my best efforts. But at the time, I didn’t see photography as a career option. So, I explored other paths, eventually landing on nursing.

The Photography Bug

My photography journey truly began in 2011 when I bought my first “real" camera, hoping to take better photos on holidays. I was working full-time as a registered nurse, and photography quickly became a hobby I adored. I wanted to move beyond the automatic settings, so I enrolled in beginner photography courses, walking around Sydney and learning the basics of manual settings.

Diving Deeper

What started as beginner day courses turned into six-week programs at the Australian Centre for Photography in Paddington. After work, I’d head to these classes, and before long, I had enrolled in a Diploma of Photography through the Photography Institute. I was completely hooked and soaking in every bit of knowledge I could.

Torn Between Two Passions

Despite my growing passion for photography, I felt torn. I had worked so hard to become a nurse, spending three years at university and years more in the profession. The sunk-cost fallacy kept me in nursing, even though my heart was pulling me towards photography full-time.

Launching My Side Business

I started taking photos of friends' babies and kids—whoever would let me—and realised I was naturally drawn to capturing those moments. By 2013, I launched my photography business on the side while continuing my nursing career.

A New Chapter in Fiji

In 2018, with a toddler and baby, my husband and I moved to Fiji for a role he was offered. While I couldn’t officially work due to visa restrictions, I spent that time taking thousands of photos, capturing the beauty of our surroundings.

Moving to america
…and Taking the Leap

In 2019, we had the chance to move to Connecticut, about an hour from NYC. With too many hurdles to requalify as a nurse in the US, the universe gave me the nudge I needed to pursue photography full-time. I registered my business as soon as possible, only for Covid to hit two weeks later.

Documenting Life During the pandemic

During that challenging time, I poured all my anxious energy into photography. I wanted to document everything, walking around our town—which looked like a ghost town—and taking photos of local shops and streets. This led me to photograph shop owners in front of their stores, promoting their businesses for pickups and online orders.

Growing My Business

The local business group in New Canaan asked if I wanted to print these photos, and we displayed them in town in May 2020.

Meanwhile, I continued learning, taking course after course with Unraveled Academy—a true lifeline during that period.

Building a Thriving
Photography Business

Before I fully understood the significance of fall family “holiday card" photos in the US, referrals from friends of friends began pouring in. My business took off, and now, four years later, I’m busier than I ever imagined.

developing my visual voice

As my business grew, I found myself naturally gravitating towards capturing families in their homes, documenting both the beautiful chaos and the quiet moments of everyday life. From tippy-toe reaches and backyard sprinkler splashes to family game nights and baking in the kitchen, these candid, documentary-style sessions have truly become the signature of my work. It’s in these unscripted moments that I’ve found my voice and my true passion for documentary-style photography—capturing life as it happens, in all its authentic beauty.

Returning Home

Photography in the US has opened doors to amazing people and places I never would have experienced otherwise. Now that we have returned to Australia and re-established our lives on the Central Coast of NSW, I’m excited to continue this journey and start a new chapter in my business.
