PLANNING YOUR SESSION
questionnaire
Before the session, you’ll receive a brief questionnaire to help us understand what you’re hoping to capture or convey in your photos. Whether it’s specific moments, moods, or themes, this helps us plan a session that reflects your vision, ensuring an authentic and personalised experience. For family sessions, we'll ask what activities you enjoy together. Whether it’s baking in the kitchen, playing board games, or going for a walk, this helps plan a session that feels authentic to your everyday life.
outfit guidance
We’ll provide a simple guide with suggestions for colour combinations and outfits that work best on camera. While full styling isn’t offered, feel free to share what you’re planning to wear, and we’ll offer tips to make sure you’re comfortable and confident while looking your best.
reference images
If you have any reference images or inspiration that you’d like to share, you’re welcome to send them. This helps us align with your vision, but it’s not a requirement—each session is unique, and we’re here to capture your story as naturally as possible.
weather and rescheduling
Life happens, and we understand that plans can change. If the weather isn’t co-operating or something comes up, simply let us know as soon as possible. We’re happy to reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice to find a new date that works for everyone.
ON THE DAY OF YOUR SESSION
arrival + setup
When I arrive at your home, I’ll start by checking the natural light in each room where we’ll be shooting. This helps me plan how best to capture your space and family.
getting started
I usually arrive ready to start shooting, and I may take a few candid shots as I walk around. Don’t worry if you’re not fully ready! Kids are naturally excited and often show me their rooms or favourite toys. These candid moments right at the start can be some of the sweetest and help everyone feel more relaxed.
first activity
Once I’ve gotten a sense of the space and light, I’ll suggest where to start and which activity might work best for the first shots. This could be anything from baking, playing games, reading on the couch, or any activity your family enjoys.
documentary style
For most of the session, I’ll take a “fly-on-the-wall" approach. All you need to do is focus on your family—play with your kids, enjoy each other’s company, and let the moments unfold naturally. I’ll capture everything as it happens.
moving through the session
If I need to move you to a different activity or room, I’ll gently guide you. Sometimes, if one parent or sibling is in another room, I may move between spaces to capture different interactions. The key is for you to relax and enjoy the time with your family.
wrap-up
The session usually lasts around two hours, but don’t worry—it goes by quickly when we have a plan of activities to work through. My goal is to capture the everyday magic in your home in a way that feels natural and easy.
AFTER YOUR SESSION
